We've all seen Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom; you know, the scene at the palace with that big guy eating snakes? Well, food aside, it could easily have been shot at 7 Spices Balti right here in Sheffield. They say first impressions are all important and on entering 7 Spices, you won't we disappointed. There's a strong palatial vibe with ornate decoration and Roman themed marble and it's a decent size too, with plenty of tables and several different areas. There was a plethora of choice on offer on the menu, enough to satisfy even the choosiest of diners. With a selection of traditional meals combined with more contemporary dishes as well as a host of house specials, I could see my choice not being an easy one. Poppadoms and chutneys arrived along with a couple of kingfishers to kick things off. Excellent attention to detail here signified that the 7 Spices is a step above other indian restaurants accross the city; the chutneys were tangy and fresh and well presented. For mains, up on our hosts recommendation, I went for one of the house specials; Monkfish and spicy vegetable balti. Although not my normal choice, I was more than happy. Served with ginger, garlic and lemon, it was decicious and tender. My partner's choice was also good; she went for aromatic Chicken Hara with fresh mint and corriander and it really hit the spot. The dishes were partnered with some naan bread and pilau rice which were all cooked to perfection. So if you fancy a cruuy somewhere a bit more lavish than usual then I strongly recommend giving 7 Spices a try. Reasonably prices great food with friendly staff . |
